Power Rankings: Pocono

Pocono:

Dover didn't shake the rankings up too much, but let's take a look at who lands where in this week's edition of power rankings as we head to Pocono.

New This Week: Clint Bowyer
Dropped Out: Tony Stewart
Close, But No Cigar: Brad Keselowski, Aric Almirola

1. Matt Kenseth (+1 spot)

Should've been the points leader after Dover if not for a late race charge by his teammate Greg Biffle. Kenseth only sits 1 point out of the points lead after his third place finish at Dover. When it comes to Pocono, Kenseth has been pretty indifferent.

2. Greg Biffle (-1)

An uncharacteristically bad race at Dover for the Biff causes him to slip in the rankings this week. Look for him to bounce back at Pocono where he has won before.

3. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (+1)

Yet another strong run for Junior keeps him steadily in the top-5 in points and in the power rankings. He's had some mild success at Pocono in the past, but it's still not a track I'd expect him to break his winless streak at.

4. Jimmie Johnson (+1)

I know, you're thinking that with how dominate JJ has been the last three weeks, why isn't he number 1 in the power rankings? Well if it wasn't for a crappy start to the season he would be, but the three guys in front of him have ran consistent all year. Look for Five-Time to run well again at the Tricky Triangle.

5. Denny Hamlin (-2)

Another Dover race, another terrible finish for Hamlin who just cannot figure out this track. Good thing for Hamlin, Pocono is his favorite track and always has been. I expect a great performance from him come Sunday.

6. Kasey Kahne (No Change)

Kahne's hot streak continues with a 9th place running at Dover where he typically isn't spectacular. Pocono has delivered a win for Kahne before, so let the hot streak roll through the summer for Kahne.

7. Martin Truex Jr. (No Change)

A good fight from Truex Jr. with a crappy car allowed him to finish 7th at Dover. It also allowed him to keep Harvick at bay in the power rankings. Not quite sure what to expect from Martin at Pocono, so put him on hold for now.

8. Kevin Harvick (No Change)

Happy Harvick is just quietly taking care of business this season as shown with a second place finish at Dover. Now he just needs to win. Not sure if Pocono will be the place for him to do that, but I've seen stranger things.

9. Kyle Busch (No Change)

Wild Thing had a great run going until the engine suddenly decided to go to hell. Pocono has been a land of struggles for the younger Busch brother, but he's getting closer there.

10. Clint Bowyer (+1, new this week)

A solid top-5 for Bowyer brings him back into the power rankings and also from Tony Stewart's atrocious luck at Dover. For expectations at Pocono, see Martin Truex above.
