Fantasy Preview: Pocono

The Series hits the Tricky Triangle known as the Pocono Raceway, the only track they race on with 3 turns. This track is unique with its three turns in the sense that each one of them is entirely different from the other, so typically only experienced drivers can figure out how to win here.

Fantasy Preview: Pocono

The Favorites:

Denny Hamlin: In his rookie year here he won both poles and both races. Not to mention he has two more wins on top of that and an average finish of 9th at Pocono. The guy knows the track, so you better have him on your team.

Jeff Gordon: The veteran is tied for the most wins ever at this track with Bill Elliott at five wins a piece. As well, he's also the defending winner of this race and with over thirty career races at this track and an average finish of 10th, you can't beat that.

Jimmie Johnson: Surprisingly this is not Johnson's most dominate track, but he's also extremely consistent here with an average finish of 9th and he's collected two wins. Like I've said, he's usually gonna be on this favorites list.

The Darkhorses:

Juan Pablo Montoya: Up to this point, he's had a terrible year. However, Pocono has always seemed to be a sure thing for Montoya who has 4 top-10's here in the last six races. He should be a steal points wise, so I'd put him on your team.

Mark Martin: 19 top-5's, 33 top-10's, and an average finish of 11th at Pocono. Why isn't he a favorite? Pocono is one of the few tracks that Martin has never scored a win at. It's hard to give him a darkhorse label, but until he wins there he has to be.

Ryan Newman: He has one win here and is just as consistent as Montoya is at Pocono including finishing in the top-10 in both races here last year. Look for Newman to regain some consistency this weekend after a few rough weeks.

Stay Away From:

Jamie McMurray: McMurray has scored 3 top-10's here, but hasn't done so since 2008. He's never been able to race consistently here and it would be very risky to add him to your team this week.

Regan Smith: In seven career races here, Smith has only been able to muster a best finish of 15th. Smith hasn't been able to find speed at Pocono yet, so stay away unless you're looking for a big bargain buy.

Marcos Ambrose: He has a 6th place finish here, so that's pretty good. But after that his best finish here is 20th or worse. For a track that drives like a road course and with Ambrose being such a great road racer, he can't figure this track out.

Good luck picking!
