The Series takes to the high banks of Dover this weekend, otherwise known as the Monster Mile. This is a very quick 1-mile track with the drivers dropping two stories when going from the straightaways into the turns giving the drivers a crazy sensation of weightlessness. Drivers have to have experience here usually to score a win, so lets see who fits the mold.
Fantasy Preview: Dover
The Favorites:
Jimmie Johnson: He's been crazy good here. 6 wins, 9 top-5's, 14 top-10's, how can you argue with those numbers? Knaus and Johnson have this place figured out, so this is hard to pass off.
Kyle Busch: If it's a concrete track, count Kyle in. Indeed, this weekend's race is on a concrete surface, a surface that Wild Thing tends to dominate. 2 wins, 7 top-5's, and 9 top-10's, not too shabby at all. Add this guy to your team.
Any Roush Driver: Pick your poison: Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, or Carl Edwards. 5 wins, 25 top-5's, and 38 top-10's between the three and the also have a combined average finish of 10.6. No surprise here, if you don't have one of these guys, then I have to call you a fool.
The Darkhorses:
Martin Truex Jr.: He's the hometown hero growing up in nearby New Jersey and his first and only career win came at this track. He hasn't done very well there as of late, but with the season he's been having, I'm confident he'll run strong.
A.J. Allmendinger: Though he only has 3 top-10's to his credit here, you have to read between the lines. If it weren't for some horrid luck, we'd probably be talking about A.J. as a Sprint Cup winner already. He's in a car that won here last year, pick him.
Clint Bowyer: Finished top-10 in both races here last year and he'll have equipment on par with Truex. This might be a little more of a stretch, but still a safe bet.
Stay Away From:
Denny Hamlin: He's only got 4 top-10's in 12 races here with an average finish of 20th. He just can't get a hang of this track, I'm staying away from him.
Tony Stewart: Though he's won here before, he was the definition of awful last year in both races. He and crew chief Steve Addington just can't get anything to work here.
Paul Menard: See Tony Stewart. Minus the previous win part.
Good luck picking!
