Fantasy Preview: Martinsville

The Series stops at the oldest and shortest track on the circuit, Martinsville Speedway. This track, shaped like a paperclip, is a track where only the best drivers win at. The straightaways are fast with heavy breaking going into the turns so it takes a driver with experience to find the perfect balance in this. Let's see who you can expect to perform well on your fantasy team this week.

Fantasy Preview: Martinsville

The Favorites:

Jimmie Johnson: You're going to see him in this category a lot this year, but at Martinsville, he's a hands down favorite. With 6 wins here and an average finish of 5.4, this pick is a no brainer. He's only finished worse than 11th once here, and that was his second career race here when he finished 35th.

Jeff Gordon: He's had a shaky start to the 2012 season with only one top 10, that came at Phoenix. However, Martinsville is the perfect place for Gordon to get his season back on track. Gordon has 7 career wins at the paperclip and an average finish of 6.9. In 38 career races here, he's only finished outside the top 10 six times.

Denny Hamlin: He's arguably the quickest driver to find success at Martinsville. In only 13 starts, Hamlin has scored 4 wins and finished in the top 5 nine times. Oh yeah, and his average finish is a solid 6.5.

The Darkhorses:

Joey Logano: Don't let the 13.8 average finish fool you. Logano loves this track and in 6 starts here he already has two top 10 finishes and has only finished outside the top 20 once. He's sure to be solid again this weekend.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Earnhardt has had an up and down career at Martinsville. He started off terribly, then got good, then went bad again, but now he's good here again. He's finished in the top 7 in his last three races here and he's riding some good momentum.

Jamie McMurray: Barring any bad luck that always seems to follow McMurray around, he can perform darn well at this track. He has ten top 10's here including a 7th place finish in this race one year ago.

Stay Away From:

Matt Kenseth: Simply put, he hates this track. He only has two career top 5's here and he's never afraid to tell anyone that this is his least favorite track on the circuit.

Paul Menard: Menard has never finished better than 13th at Martinsville and has an average finish of 22.7. He just really hasn't found the trick here yet.

Kurt Busch: He has one win here, but that seems like ages ago. He hasn't has a top 10 here since 2005 and just hasn't flexed his muscle at all since then. I'd be surprised for him to turn things around now.

Good luck picking!
