Description: Not a lot of flash, but quite a bit of talent. That phrase would best describe Greg Biffle.
Growing up in the northwestern United States meant that Biffle would have to come from territory that hardly any drivers in NASCAR had come from before. He was cutting his teeth in some lower divisions when he was noticed by NASCAR hall-of-famer Benny Parsons, who recommended Jack Roush to look at Biffle.
Biffle began racing in the Camping World Truck Series in the late 1990s and quickly found success, winning over ten races and scoring the 2000 championship in just three seasons. That quickly propelled a move up to the XFinity series in 2001 where he scored five wins and finished fourth in points in his rookie season. He would then win the championship the following year in the XFinity Series, while dabbling in some Sprint Cup starts.
Biffle would finally reach the Sprint Cup Series full-time with Jack Roush in 2003. Biffle's ability to experience early success once again carried over to Sprint Cup, where he scored a win in his rookie season at the July Daytona race, though ultimately finished 20th in points.
His career best season would come two years later in 2005, where he scored six wins en route to a second place finish in the championship, losing out to Tony Stewart. Ever since then, Biffle has been competitive, typically make the Chase. But he has found winning much harder to come by, winning no more than two races in a season since that career year in 2005. In fact, he's gone winless in three seasons since that time.
Perhaps Biffle needs to find the aggression he's shown in year's past to find his edge again. Biffle has been known to become slightly temperamental, getting into disagreements with Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, and Boris Said, among others, though not in recent years.
Biffle's age makes it seem that his time left in NASCAR's top division might be waining, but his ability is still there. If Roush Fenway can figure out its issues sooner rather than later, Biffle can undoubtedly continue to compete for wins and a spot in the Chase for a few more years.
Fun Facts: Biffle is a private pilot and a track owner, among other things. He has also made appearances on television shows such as "Yes, Dear", "Paula's Party" on Food Network, and "American Restoration", and appeared briefly in "Talladega Nights".
