Twitter Tuesdays (NASCAR Style) Sept. 11

 Twitter
Tuesdays
(NASCAR Style)

First off, I'd like to send my thoughts and prayers to the families who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks on this day 11 years ago....

Wow! What a fantastic end to the regular season at Richmond! We had a guy spin out early in the race and then pull off a fuel milage win out of nowhere to carry momentum into the Chase. Then we had a former champ go a lap down and then rally for a second place finish and a last moment surge into the Chase! There's plenty to talk about, so let's see what the best of the best tweets there were this week!

The 2012 #Chase for the #NASCAR Sprint Cup field. Who will emerge as champion?
-@NASCAR

Best day of my life! Better than any trophy or accomplishment. Today I became Alex Almirola's Dad. Baby and Momma are good
-@aric_almirola (Aric Almirola) on the birth of his first child last Tuesday! Congratulations are in order for sure!

Looking forward to next year with @penskeracing Shell Pennzoil and @keselowski I still have a lot of work to do in 2012.
-@joeylogano (Joey Logano) commenting on his switch from Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford (currently driven by Sam Hornish Jr.) for Penske Racing next season.

Just sitting here letting it all sink in...have a lot to look forward to this season, and next. #blessed
-@mattkenseth (Matt Kenseth) commenting the very same day as Logano after it was announced that he will be taking over Logano's car at Joe Gibbs Racing next season. Kenseth's ride at Roush Fenway Racing will be taken by Nationwide driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Had a dream that @McIlroyRory was also an F1 driver that came to the US to drive #nascar-He drove the 32 car at Texas, I started on the pole
-@landoncassill (Landon Cassill) on his strange, yet hilarious dream that PGA golf pro Rory McIlroy came from Europe to drive in NASCAR. If that ever happened, I think we'd all be speechless.

Proud to let everyone know that I will be back with @StewartHaasRcng and the No. 39 team in 2013.
-@RyanNewman39 (Ryan Newman) announcing he'll be back with his current team for at least one more year at Stewart-Haas. Unfortunately, sponsorship has not been announced for his car yet after his current sponsor, U.S. Army, is leaving the sport.

I think we should race tonight no matter how late…. But I don’t get asked what I think
-@Regan_Smith_ (Regan Smith) on the possibility that the Saturday night race at Richmond could have been rained out and postponed until Sunday afternoon. NASCAR somehow managed to get the whole race in on Saturday night despite multiple cautions for rain.

He's still awake
-@mw55 (Michael Waltrip) making fun of and surprising his driver, Mark Martin, with this picture (above). This was during the rain delay, about 150 laps into the race and approaching about 11:30 p.m. at that time. Martin, of course, is the oldest driver in NASCAR right now and as Waltrip points out, should've been asleep.

Sure is dark in here...
-@keselowski (Brad Keselowski) while sitting in his car during the rain delay.

What a night! So proud of this team! We never gave up and now we're ready to battle for this championship.
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon) after he started the race in 2nd, fell back to 25th and a lap down by the rain delay, then rallied like hell to finish 2nd and take the final wild card spot over Kyle Busch. Gordon either had to win to make the Chase or beat Busch by 12 spots, which he did after Busch finished 16th.

Well, guess I run outta friends to celebrate with....Damn it...Suppose I'll turn it in for the night. #wahoo
-@ClintBowyer (Clint Bowyer) after he won the race at Richmond (his second win of the year) and now carries great momentum into the Chase.

So as many of u may have heard, I made a statement that if we made the Chase I wud bring back the stache. I'm a man of my word.
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon) on bringing back his hilarious mustache that he had when he was a rookie if he made the Chase. Looks like the "stache" is coming back!

Peyton looked gooood tonight! Happy for him!
-@DanicaPatrick (Danica Patrick) on Peyton Manning's return to football with the Denver Broncos last night.
