Twitter Tuesdays (NASCAR Style) Aug. 7

 Twitter
Tuesdays
(NASCAR Style)

A numerous amount of topics concerning NASCAR occurred during this past weekend's races at Pocono and Iowa, some good and some horrible. The drivers once again came through and delivered some very meaningful and funny tweets as they seem to do week in and week out. It's funny, because you wouldn't think you could learn so much from a tweet that only allows up to 140 characters, but these drivers use this social network to connect with their fans so well, it's unlike any other sport! So let's dive in to what's on the Twitter wire this week!

They Said It:

Ringing victory bell w/ everyone @TeamHendrick 2day. Leo & Ella having fun, so we need 2 do this more often!
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon) with his kids, Leo and Ella, participating in a Hendrick Motorsports tradition, going around the race shop and having everyone ring the victory bell after Gordon's first win of the season this past weekend at Pocono.

Corn out here in NC looks really good. Very sad to see all the crops burnt up this year in the Midwest. #droughtsucks
-@ClintBowyer (Clint Bowyer) commenting on the state of the crops in North Carolina as compared to those across the midwestern United States. Bowyer, from Kansas, knows and can relate to just how bad this year's drought in the midwest has been.

I never thought watching a almost 2 yr old baby go potty in the toilet could make me so excited.
-@bscottracing (Brian Scott, Nationwide driver) on the apparent joys of fatherhood.

Why I don't think I need to wear sunscreen at the beach, is beyond me...
-@DanicaPatrick (Danica Patrick) putting herself at risk for some pretty good sunburn it sounds like!

Water polo looks like a pain in the ass...Give them an engine and a prop if u wanna see some action.
-@ClintBowyer (Clint Bowyer) and his opinion on how Olympic water polo should be played. I'd have to say, it'd be pretty entertaining!

Rule #1, don't over drive corner entry. Too bad I forgot about that rule on my (lap) into the tunnel turn. #ImAnIdiot
-@JimmieJohnson (Jimmie Johnson) on his qualifying lap at Pocono. Yeah, that is a five-time NASCAR champion calling himself an idiot for messing up one lap. It just goes to show you how hard these guys work.

My anti depressive pills..
-@NelsonPiquet (Nelson Piquet Jr., Truck Series driver) on his cure for his sadness (above) after essentially giving away his first career Truck Series win at Pocono to Joey Coulter.

Can't thank all you guys enough for the tweets... One of the most emotional wins I've ever had...couldn't be more proud of my team
-@Elliott_Sadler (Elliott Sadler, Nationwide driver) after winning the Nationwide race at Iowa, one week after NASCAR penalized Sadler for a false restart and caused him to lose the inaugural race at Indianapolis.

Well there is a god, @JeffGordonWeb s luck has turned around. Now maybe mine will?
-@bscottracing (Brian Scott, Nationwide driver) commenting on Gordon's first win of the year and comparing Gordon's terrible early season luck to the same awful luck Scott has had this year in the Nationwide Series.

Congrats to @JeffGordonWeb, finally had something go his way this season!
-@chaseelliott (Chase Elliott, K&N driver) also recognizing Gordon's first instance of good luck this season. Elliott, 16, is not only a K&N Series regular, but he is also a developmental driver for Hendrick Motorports, the same team Gordon drives for and will most likely be the successor of once Gordon retires. Oh yeah, and his father is former Sprint Cup Series champion, Bill Elliott.

I also feel "reborn"..... Great choice of words from Dale Jr.....
-@Elliott_Sadler (Elliott Sadler, Nationwide driver) commenting on Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s interview on NASCAR RaceHub on SPEED Channel. Both of these drivers are having extreme career resurgences this season in their respective series.

Some of you can dream up what ever you want, I had a flat RR tire.#truth
-@JimmieJohnson (Jimmie Johnson) stating to some Twitter followers who believed he intentionally wrecked Matt Kenseth on the final restart that the cause of the incident was due to a flat right rear tire.

Crew members are by far the biggest assholes on the road after any NASCAR race. Week in and week out
-@kaseykahne (Kasey Kahne) I'm really not sure where this came from or what it's all about, but I sure got a laugh out of it and I hope you will too.

The next few tweets from the drivers are devoted to a fan, Brian Zimmerman, who died outside of the track at Pocono this past Sunday after being struck by lightning shortly after the race was called. 9 other fans were also injured in the lightning strike.

So sorry to hear about our fans injured during the race. Thinking of all of u and your families
-@RCR31JeffBurton (Jeff Burton)

my thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the fan that was killed at todays race. #RIP #respect #thisishorrible
-@LandonCassill83 (Landon Cassill)

I want to throw up after reading the days of today's tragic death @pocono How terribly, terribly sad... my condolences to the family.
-@keselowski (Brad Keselowski)

My hearts and prayers go out to the fans of the pocono race struck by lightning..We as a sport must come 2gether and support them.#NASCAR
-@pkligerman (Parker Kligerman, Truck Series driver)

Tough day today but means nothing when I think about the fans hurt and killed. My thoughts are with the families. So very sad. #loveourfans
-@joeylogano (Joey Logano)

Thanks 2 everyone for all the congrats & support. My thoughts & prayers go out 2 all those affected by the lightning strikes @poconoraceway.
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon)

And these were only a handful of the drivers who offered their condolences after the tragic incident.
