Twitter Tuesdays (NASCAR Style) Jul. 31

Twitter
Tuesdays
(NASCAR Style)

Alright, I can finally say that the blog posts will be uninterrupted at least for the next month or so, so no more delays and absences. With that being said, let's see what's hot of the Twitter wire over the past two weeks from Chicago to Indianapolis.

They Said It:

Congress's arguing over money to support military while they spent 3MIL on (not guilty verdict) w/ steroids in baseball. It Isnt their job!
-@BrianLVickers (Brian Vickers) and his opinion on an attempt by a congresswoman from Minnesota to attain an amendment that would prevent military sponsorships in auto racing. Military sponsorships are commonplace in NASCAR and have been for years as they are used for a recruiting tool. Thankfully, the amendment didn't pass. And Vickers uses the Roger Clemens steroid case in baseball where he was found not guilty and how much congress spent on that one case. Quit worrying about sports, congress, and focus on more important things.

And now it's not even safe to go to the movie theater...How the hell do people go so wrong???
-@ClintBowyer (Clint Bowyer) on the events of the movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado two weeks ago. Fellow NASCAR driver Regan Smith ran a tribute car this past weekend at Indy in honor of the twelve people who were killed in the attack.

We. Never. Quit. Came back from 2 laps down! Incredible. #winning
-@JamesBuescher (James Buescher, Truck Series and Nationwide Series driver) on his third Truck Series win of the season at the Chicagoland Speedway two weeks ago. As Buescher said, he came from 2 laps down to win, a very improbable feat.

I'm so ready for tomorrow's race, our car is awesome.#KissTheBricks
-@JimmieJohnson (Jimmie Johnson) the day before the Brickyard 400. It appeared Johnson was right, his car was untouchable all day and he went on to "Kiss the Bricks" for the fourth time, a feat only he and teammate Jeff Gordon have ever achieved.

There is only one Indy but I miss the Nationwide cars at ORP
-@RCR31JeffBurton (Jeff Burton) and his opinion on NASCAR moving the Nationwide Series from the short track of O'Reily Raceway Park (now Lucas Oil Raceway) on the west side of Indy to the Brickyard for the first time due to attendance reasons at the Brickyard. The move is devastating to Lucas Oil Raceway.

Seems I must not understand the rules of the start of the race. Please explain NASCAR we are all confused...
-@KevinHarvick (Kevin Harvick) on the start of the Nationwide race at Indy where the pole sitter, Kasey Kahne, was beat to the start/finish line by second place starter Kyle Busch. This move is nearly always deemed illegal by NASCAR under most circumstances and the violator is black flagged and sent down pit road. But NASCAR took no action, leaving the Sprint Cup drivers extremely confused on how the start of the race is judged.

@Elliott_Sadler just got royally screwed.
-@MartinTruexJr56 (Martin Truex Jr.) on the Nationwide race at Indy where Elliott Sadler did exactly what Kyle Busch did at the start of the race, but NASCAR did penalize him and he lost the race and nearly his championship point lead because of it. This left a grey area because NASCAR allowed Kyle Busch to not be penalized, but Sadler was. It was inexplicable.

Just got home.. Still lost for words... Not everyday you have a chance to win the biggest race of season and have it taken away...........
-@Elliott_Sadler (Elliott Sadler) and his thoughts on NASCAR taking the inaugural Nationwide Series win at the world famous Brickyard away from him.

Boy, that was fun
-@mattkenseth (Matt Kenseth) after he wrecked during the Brickyard 400, losing his points lead to Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the process. Kenseth had led the points the majority of the season.

Nothing like running a red light in the middle of the day. The driver must be hungry
-@kaseykahne (Kasey Kahne) on witnessing some awful driving. Hunger is usually the reason for running red lights, right?

Tune in next week to see what the drivers have to say after a second date at the Pocono Raceway!
