Twitter Tuesdays (NASCAR Style) Jun. 19

Twitter
Tuesdays
(NASCAR Style)

Praise Jesus! Dale Jr. finally ended what seemed like the longest sports drought ever, snapping his 143 race skid by winning at Michigan this weekend! His win was the talk of the town, or should I say nation, as he was on nearly every single news report I watched between Sunday night and Monday morning. So it should be needless to say that the majority of this week's tweets will feature Junior in some way, shape, or form. And it's funny to note that Junior doesn't even have a Twitter account.

I'm thinking Thunder just like the other 49 states.
-@kaseykahne (Kasey Kahne) on his pick to win the NBA Finals and referencing the fact that the Oklahoma City Thunder's opponent, the Miami Heat, are an oft hated team except in Florida of course.

Up and on my way to airport to fly to Michigan. Nothing like getting 3.5 hours sleep. #notcool
-@aric_almirola (Aric Almirola) on what sounded like a rough night/morning. We've all had them!

8 am and 215. Eyes wide open

Minimum speed in the corner is 192!!!
-@MartinTruexJr56 (Martin Truex Jr.) Two tweets from last Thursday's test session at Michigan where drivers were setting the fastest speeds they'd ever gone.

As expected new LS tires took away lot of grip. Going to b very slick on restarts and tough to find a good balance thru a fuel run. #nascar
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon) on NASCAR's decision to bring a new left side tire to the track to combat the blistering that was occurring on the tires from such high speeds.

Trying not to be overdramatic here, but here's my thoughts: setups out the window, we're all scrambling, maybe some restart wrecks tomorrow.
-@landoncassill (Landon Cassill) and his thoughts on what the new left side tire was going to cause in race conditions. Fortunately, it wasn't as bad as he predicted here.

After 3 days of practicing here at MIS you would think we all have a pretty good idea what tomorrow will bring. We don't.#turn1willbecrazy
-@aric_almirola (Aric Almirola) on just how little the drivers knew about their setups with the new tire.

My dad taught me work ethic, self belief, and a never quit attitude. Those things mean a great deal during tough times.Happy Fathers Day
-@RCR31JeffBurton (Jeff Burton) shares a great memory about his dad for Father's Day. I know my dad has taught me that too and then some.

Fire! Fire! I should have stripped down to my underwear and ran around like Ricky Bobby.
-@dennyhamlin (Denny Hamlin) on thinking that he should've pulled a Ricky Bobby after his car caught fire after a wreck during the race.

And here comes the plethora of Junior tweets:

Way to go boss! Great to see jr back in victory lane!
-@DanicaPatrick (Danica Patrick) congratulating Junior, who is also her car owner in the Nationwide Series.

Fleeing @MISpeedway. Smoke rising. Screaming. Windows being smashed. Fornicating in the streets. #JuniorWins #NASCAR
-@nascarcasm (A former IU student who has an "in" with the drivers and tweets awesome NASCAR stuff all of the time) on what the scene was actually like at the track after Dale won. No joke.

Really loose all day but managed a 10th... Really happy to see Dale Jr win!
-@KevinHarvick (Kevin Harvick) congratulating.

Schools are closed tomorrow.
-@mw55 (Michael Waltrip) mentioning how big this win means in the world of NASCAR.

Really glad my blown tire didn’t bring out a yellow, might have needed an armored car to get out of Michigan if it did
-@Regan_Smith_ (Regan Smith) on him blowing a tire with 4 laps to go and being very happy that it didn't bring out a caution which would've wiped out Dale Jr.'s monster lead over Tony Stewart. If that had happened and Junior lost the race, Regan would've become the most hated man in NASCAR.

Fell back there at the end but a huge turn around from struggling most of the wk. congrats to Dale Jr and @SteveLetarte...All is right!!!!
-@ClintBowyer (Clint Bowyer) once again congratulating Junior and his crew chief. He's right, all is right with the world now.

Congrats to Jr, 88 team and everyone at @TeamHendrick. Great victory today. 24 is next!
-@JeffGordonWeb (Jeff Gordon) saying that he is now due to win for Hendrick Motorsports, being the only driver there not to win this year since Dale, Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne have all won.

And one more awesome tweet:

Jamming to Hotel California on the way to @RedHorseRacing!#classic
-@TimothyPeters17 (Truck Series driver Timothy Peters) jamming to one of the most awesome songs ever by the Eagles on his way to his team's race shop Monday morning.

The drivers should have plenty to say after the first road course race of the year in Sonoma, CA!
