BREAKING NEWS:
NASCAR has suspended Jimmie Johnson's crew chief Chad Knaus after discovering violations on Johnson's car prior to the Daytona 500. Knaus will be suspended for 6 races as well as being fined $100,000, car chief Ron Malec will also be suspended 6 races and Johnson has been docked 25 driver points.
This puts Johnson at -23 points after one race because of his 42nd place finish in the season opening Daytona 500 and those points will be rather tough to make up. This is not the place he wants to be in at the start of the season as he goes for his 6th championship.
Hendrick Motorsports plans to appeal.
